Bahrain World Trade Center |
|
The design inspiration behind the twin towers of the Bahrain World Trade Center makes it the first building of its type in the world.
A modern interpretation of traditional Arabian wind towers, where the shape of the structure harnesses the onshore winds of the Arabian Gulf, the towers’ architecture provides a source of energy for the building that is renewable and cost effective.
The shape of the towers channels the airflow through the turbines, improving their function and energy generation output.
The 3 turbines that measure 29 metres in diameter are supported on bridges between the two 240 metres high towers.
Connected to generators, the wind turbines will feed power to the building grids, reducing the load on external power sources and providing a financial benefit to the occupiers of the development. The turbines generate approximately 11-15% of the towers total energy needs.
The Bahrain World Trade Center is the Kingdom’s first truly intelligent building and features an array of sophisticated SMART features:
High-speed broadband Internet access with Internet Protocol telephony, and wireless, unified messaging on a single, converged voice-data-video network.
Advanced security systems with intelligent secured access, protection, surveillance, warnings and responses.
A district water cooling system provides a cost effective, environmentally friendly alternative to traditional air conditioning systems. Exceptional management systems reduce costs, and deliver one bill to occupants that include rent, energy and infocomm technology (ICT) services.
